Native of Ord Community Spent Most of Life in Madison County
Mrs. Frank Bell, a well known Madison county and Winterset resident for many years, died Saturday, May 13 at her home in Winterset. She was 73 years of age.
Mrs. Bell was the former Bertie Ellen Hartsook, daughter of William and Catherine Smoot Hartsook. She was born in Lincoln township Aug. 5, 1876. Her early life was spent in the Ord community where she had been a member of the New Hope church since the age of 12 years.
She was educated at the Dexter Normal Training school and served as a school teacher in Madison county for five years.
She was married to Frank E. Bell on Feb. 27, 1901. They were the parents of two children, Anna Louise, who died in infancy, and Stanley W. Bell of Winterset, who survives.
In addition to the son, she leaves her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Schoenenberger of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Sarah Newell of Howard, Kan.; and two brothers, Fred Hartsook of Winterset and Ben Hartsook, also of Winterset.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Winterset Church of Christ, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. I. E. Linkletter, assisted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
