Was Member of Pioneer Family in Madison County
Word was received here Monday night of the death of Mrs. Bertha Bare, former Winterset resident. She died Monday, April 24th at a hospital in Annapolis, Md., after an extended illness.
Mrs. Bare was a daughter of Samuel and Jane Beerbower, pioneer residents of Winterset. She lived here until the early 20's. Since then she was a teacher in a girls school at Cairo, Egypt, and later taught in Shanghai, China. Since her retirement from teaching she had resided in Annapolis.
Mrs. Bare is survived by her son, Colonel Robert Bare of the U.S. Marine corps, who has been stationed at Quantico, Va., since his return from overseas service during the recent war, his wife, and their daughter.
The remains are being returned to Winterset, and brief graveside services will be held here Saturday, April 29th at 11 a.m., in the Winterset cemetery.
