ESTHER COOPER DIED SATURDAY

Veteran Member of Ames Faculty Was 73 Years Old

Miss Esther Cooper, a veteran English instructor at Iowa State college at Ames, and former Winterset resident, died at the Ames hospital Satruday, April 22nd at the age of 73 years. Miss Cooper had been on the college faculty since 1909, and was an assistant professor of English there. She had been in poor health the past two years, and had been seriously ill at the Ames hospital three weeks prior to her death.

A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Cooper, she was born in Pennsylvania, January 1, 1877 and came to Winterset with her parents when she was a small child. Following her graduation from high school here, she went to college, and Ames has since been her home.

Funeral services for Miss Cooper were held at the Adams funeral home in Ames Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. According to her wishes, cremation followed and short graveside services will be held in the Winterset cemetery Saturday, April 29 at two o'clock.

The deceased is survived by a brother, Ralph Cooper of Ames, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Guthrie of Chicago, and a number of nieces and nephews.
