Mrs. George Rippey, a lifelong resident of Madison county, died at her home in Scott township, Thursday morning, May 4th. Mrs. Rippey who was 56 years of age had been in poor health for some time. Several months ago she submitted to a goiter operation at the University hospital at Iowa City. It was thought that she was recovering nicely and she was brought home. Mrs. Rippey was the former Lulu Clark, a daughter of Rufus and Susan Clark, pioneer residents of Madison county. They were the parents of two children, who with the husband survive her; Mrs. Zaida Hayden of Gillette, Wyoming and Cleo of Winterset. Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her, two brothers, Frank and Alvin Clark of Winterset and one sister, Mrs. Thomas McCauley of St. Mary's. She also leaves six grandchildren.

In 1891 she united with the Winterset Church of Christ and her pastor, the Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted her services, Saturday, May 6th at 2 o'clock. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
