Jessie Hart Smith, daughter of Hiram C. and M. Jane Smith, was born in Webster township, April 26, 1871 and departed this life June 7, 1933 at her home in Macksburg at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 11 days.
On June 3, 1890 she was united in marriage to A. D. Crow and to this union four children were born. Three sons, Glenn, Charles and Wayne and a daughter, Nellie Chadwick all of Macksburg.
With the exception of four years her life was spent in Madison county. At an early age she united with the West Star church where she was an ardent worker and later she united with the Wells Congregational church, near Macksburg. She was a faithful and devoted mother and will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Woman's Relief Corps.
Her parents, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death and she leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, children, six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Macksburg, conducted by Rev. C. W. Basham of Orient, assisted by the Rev. C. C. Phillips of Macksburg. Burial was made at the Moon cemetery with the Women's Relief Corps in charge of the services.
