Was Member of Well-Known Family in Madison County

Lucy B. Doak, member of a family well known in Madison county for many years, died here Monday, July 10 at the Shoemaker Nursing home. She was 84 years of age.

Miss Doak was a native of Washington county, Pennsylvania, where she was born Mary 26, 1866, a daughter of Samuel H. and Isabella Myers Doak. She was the only girl in a family of five children. Of her four brothers, all but one have preceded her in death.

She came with her parents to Madison county in 1877. They lived in the west part of the county, principally in Jackson township. In the early 1880's she moved with her widowed mother to Dexter, which was her home until about 1935 when she came to Winterset.

She had been a long-time member of the Presbyterian church.

Her nearest surviving relative is her youngest brother, Edmund Doak of Oroville, Calif.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Clement Loehr, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
