Thursday, April 27, 1933Death of Mrs. G. G. Hole
Mrs. Grant Hole of Peru died at the Winterset hospital last Wednesday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock. She had been seriously ill for three weeks with pneumonia.
The deceased was the former Susie Frances Thornburg, daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Thornburgh. She was born in Weatherford, Texas, Parker county, April 1, 1860. When a small child she moved with her parents by ox team to Springfield, Missouri. In 1878 she was married to William Jackson, who preceded her in death. They were the parents of one son, Sherman.
In 1889 she moved to Winterset and on June 22, 1890 she was married to George Grant Hole at Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Hole died June 2, 1932.
When a small child, the deceased joined the Baptist church. After coming to Iowa in 1890, she joined the Christian church, where she taught a Sunday school class as long as her eyes would permit. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and served in most of the offices. During her later years she lost her eyesight, but she never lost her joy of living, and she always was in good humor. She did not complain of her affliction but was concerned about the welfare of others.
She is survived by two sons, Sherman E. Jackson of Gravette, Arkansas and Roy B. Hole of Peru. She also leaves her daughters-in-law, Sue Jackson of Gravette, Arkansas and Pearl Hole of Peru, seven grandchildren and one sister Ida McClelland of Brown Springs, Missouri.
The Rev. E. H. Sands conducted her funeral services at the Methodist church in Peru, Friday afternoon, April 21st at 2:30 o'clock and burial was in the Peru cemetery.
