Mrs. Edith J. DeLong

Edith June Ginn was born June 2, 1889 at Conway, Taylor county, Iowa and passed away after a brief illness on Monday, July 24, 1933, aged forty-four years, one month and twenty-two days.

Her early years were spent at Conway where she attended the grade school. She moved in 1905 with her parents to Indianola, Iowa and graduated from the Indianola high school in 1908. Later she attended Simpson college and became a successful teacher.

On August 25, 1912, she was married to John William DeLong and they established their home on a farm near Truro. To this union one daughter was born, who died in infancy.

Her husband served in the World War and was killed while in active service in France. Since his death she made her home in Truro. For the past fourteen years she has been postmistress in Truro.

Mrs. DeLong united with the Methodist church at Conway at an early age. She has been a consistant Christian and faithful and loyal helper in the church throughout her entire life. For three years she had been the superintendent of the Methodist church in Truro and has served as church treasurer and was the church secretary at the time of her death. She was regular in church attendance and supported her church liberally and gladly.

She leaves to mourn her departure her mother, Mrs. Mary Ginn of Indianola, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Nellis of Indianola, and Mrs. Myrl Page of Bedford, Iowa; four brothers, Paul Ginn of Leonard, N. D., Gladstone and Kenneth of Chicago and Hiram of Cheyenne, Wyoming and five nieces and four nephews besides a host of friends.

The funeral service was held in the Truro M. E. church on Wednesday, July 26 and conducted by her pastor the Rev. Clarence Moore. The music was furnished by a double quartette.
