January 1964

Hazel Mary Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Parker was born July 4, 1892 near Adel, Iowa and departed this life January 23, 1964 at her home in Earlham, Iowa. She attended school and spent her early life in the College Corner community northwest of Dexter. Later she was employed for a number of years in the office of the Dexter Sentinel. (Burial in Earlham Cemetery).

Hazel Parker was united in marriage to Ross J. Reynolds April 16, 1922 and they were privileged to spend 38 happy years together. After living in Dexter for two years, they moved to Earlham where they resided until the passing of Mr. Reynolds in May 1960.

Mrs. Reynolds was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. Its work was of deep concern to her and she was a loyal and active member until her death. She especially enjoyed the Silver Circle Sunday School class and calling on the ill and shut-ins as long as her health permitted. She was a devoted member of the Earlham Eastern Star Chapter for many years and also enjoyed the fellowship of the Study and Social Club. The hospitality of her home was always extended to her family and friends.

Mrs. Reynolds has been in failing health recently and for the past several months, Mrs. Eudora Sole has been a faithful companion to her in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Gertrude, Mrs. Ward King of Adel. She leaves to mourn her passing: two stepdaughters and their families, Arlene (Mrs. Ed Mathews) of Des Moines and Eleanor (Mrs. Gordon Hoeye) of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
