DORTHA WILSON

Dortha Madeline Ross, second child of Oral and Gladys Ross was born at Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 25, 1921. After a lingering illness, she slipped away from this life of pain in the Winterset Memorial hospital on November 21, 1964 at the age of 43 years, 3 months and 27 days.

It was while she was living with her family near Redfield, Iowa that she met and later married Marion S. Wilson of Earlham on November 12, 1938. They established their home on the Wilson farm just north of Earlham and lived there for the entire 26 years of their married life.

Three children came to bless this home; a baby son who died at birth and two daughters, Mary Louise and Marjorie Ellen, both at home.

Dorthy, as she was better known to her friends was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and relatives and her hospitality will be missed by those who have enjoyed the warmth of her home. She was a member of the Earlham Friends church and enjoyed the fellowship of her church "family."

Besides her husband and daughters, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oral Ross of Grinnell; her two sisters, Mrs. Maxine Minard of Des Moines, and Mrs. Donna Mills of West Des Moines; and three brothers, Leo of Des Moines, Clinton of Ankeny and Larry of Grinnell and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Earlham Friends church on Monday, November 23, conducted by the pastor, L. Willard Reynolds. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
