WALTER C. COFFMAN

Walter C. Coffman was born in Texas County, Missouri, July 6, 1881 to Riley and Sarah Murr Coffman and passed away at his home in Earlham June 15, 1962 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 8 days after several months of illness.

Walter was united in marriage to Edna Brunton on August 8, 1909. To this union seven children were born. One daughter, Darlene, passed away in infancy May 29, 1929.

He is survived by his wife, Edna, three daughters and three sons; Mrs. Mae von Rentzell, Orville, both of Earlham, Mrs. Fern Griffieon of Adel; Mrs. Mary Carr, Pico Riveria, California; Walter Jr., Monterey Park, California; Ralph of Hollywood, California.

Walter was the oldest of 12 children, all of whom are living: Charlie, Mt. Grove, Missouri; Fannie Stottlemyre, Centralia, Washington; Mary McKee, Success, Missouri; Jack, Boone; Alfred, Houston, Texas; Herman, Centralia, Washington; Simon, Patterson, Iowa; Ira, Lake City, Iowa; Artie Crane, Toledo, Washington; Cecil, Des Moines and Pearl Renslow, Grand Junction, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many more relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Walter has lived in the community for 30 years. He worked at various jobs, mostly farm work. He enjoyed his work and enjoyed being with his friends. Walter was a kind and loving husband and father, and he will be very much missed by friends as well as relatives.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 18, at the Earlham Church of Christ. Rev. John Casey was in charge of the services. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
