ONA MAE CARTER DIED WEDNESDAY

Life-Long St. Charles Resident Was 88 Years of Age

Mrs. Ona Mae Carter of St.Charles died Wednesday, Aug. 5 at a nursing home there. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Carter was a life-long resident of the St. Charles community. She was the former Ona Mae Howard, daughter of Richard and Martha Mercer Howard and was born there Feb. 6, 1876.

She was married to Peter Carter on Feb. 23, 1893 at Hanley.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church and the Women's society of Christian Service.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Earl Smith of St. Charles; and a son, Guy Carter of Truro; in addition to seven grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother, Eugene Howard of Los Angeles, California; and a sister, Mrs. Lula Kale of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held Friday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Des Moines. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
