Creston Rites for Josephine Eivins

Mrs. Josephine M. Eivins, a longtime resident of the Macksburg area, died at the Crest Manor Nursing Home in Creston last Friday, January 31. She was 73 years of age.

Josephine May Eivins was born at River Falls, Minn. on October 24, 1901, the daughter of Fred Lewis and Minnie Ethel Clark Clof. She was married to Claude Ray Eivins at Winterset on June 14, 1922.

Mrs. Eivins spent her childhood years in Jasper County, Iowa, and lived in the Macksburg vicinity from 1930 to 1958. She moved to Creston in 1958.

Mrs. Eivins was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Creston.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Eivins of Macksburg and Lee Eivins of Waterloo, and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Hoepker of Orient and Mrs. Clarence (Elaine May) Lamb of Creston.

Other survivors include 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Clof of Afton, and eight sisters: Mrs. Glen (Pauline) Campbell of Macksburg; Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Walker of Monroe; Mrs. Viola Mays and Mrs. Pete (Dorothy) Lauer of Creston; Mrs. Dale (Zeida) McKee of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; Mrs. Forrest (Velma) McVay of Lenox; Mrs. Max (Inez) Stickles of Afton; and Mrs. Frank (Clarice) Porter of Henderson, Nev.

Mrs. Eivins was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 3 at the First Presbyterian Church in Creston, with the Rev. Dale Cunningham officiating. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg.
