Harry Fred Koboldt, the eldest of the five children of Fredrick and Mary Schwartz Koboldt was born June 18, 1889 in Long Point, Woodford county, Illinois. Soon after the turn of the century, he moved with his family to Dallas county, Iowa near Perry. He passed away at the Madison county Memorial Hospital on June 20th, 1975.

On February 19, 1911, he was united in marriage with Martha Allen. Seven children were born to this union: Myra Spencer and Earl of Earlham, Mae Martens of Winterset, Wayne and Amy Leggett of Earlham, Nina Tomlinson of Oskaloosa, and Pearl who passed away at the age of three years. The family moved to a farm in Madison County, Iowa in December of 1929, and retired to their home in Earlham in December of 1943. For a number of years Harry was an employee of the local elevator and made many friends there.

Those of his family who will miss him include his help-mate of 64 years, his children, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also a brother, Charles of Rippey, Iowa and three sisters: Bertha Koboldt and Luella Anschutz of Perry, Iowa and Susan Cobb of Blockton, Iowa and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in the Earlham Friends Church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23, with Rev. Glenn Moore officiating. Grandsons served as casket bearers. Interment was in the Penn Center Cemetery.

Services for Harry Koboldt

Harry Fred Koboldt, a resident of Madison County for 46 years, died Friday, June 20, 1975, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Koboldt was born June 18, 1889, in Long Point, Woodford County, Illinois, the eldest of five children born to Fredrick and Mary Schwartz Koboldt. He moved with his family to Dallas County, Iowa, near Perry after the turn of the century.

On February 19, 1911, Mr. Koboldt married Martha Allen and seven children were born to the couple: Myra Spencer and Earl Koboldt of Earlham; Mae Martens of Winterset; Wayne Koboldt and Amy Leggett, also of Earlham; and Nina Tomlinson of Oskaloosa. A daughter, Pearl, died at the age of three years.

The Koboldt family moved to a farm in Madison County in December, 1929 and Mr. and Mrs. Koboldt retired to their home in Earlham in December, 1943. Mr. Koboldt was employed by the Farmer’s Co-op grain elevator in Earlham for several years.

Mr. Koboldt is survived by his wife, his children, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Koboldt of Jefferson; and three sisters, Bertha Koboldt and Luella Anschutz of Perry, and Susan Cobb of Bolckton. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Koboldt were held at the Earlham Friends Church Monday, June 23 at 1030 a.m., the Rev. Glenn Morre officiating. Grandsons served as casket bearers. Interment was in the Penn Center Cemetery.
