Earlham, IowaSamuel Beaver Knapp passed away February 1, 1973, at the Holiday Nursing Home in Petersburg, Indiana, where he had been a patient one week and a day. He had been in failing health for some time. Before moving to Patoka, Indiana, in June 1972, Sam and Lucille lived in Camp Verde, Arizona. He had lived all of his life in Central Iowa, as a farmer, before retiring in 1968. Sam was a member of the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren of Adel, Iowa. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 529 of Linden, Iowa, since 1928.
Sam married the former Lucille Emmert of Redfield, Iowa, who survives. Also, surviving are one daughter Mrs. Lauren Rohrbach (Norma) and husband and their children, Cynthia and Samuel of Adrian, Michigan; four sisters: Rosy, Dorothea, Lillie and Mabel Knapp of Eldorado, Illinois; four brothers: Homer of Dayton, Iowa; Carl, Jacob and Howard of Linden, Iowa; also a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob C. Knapp, one sister, Margaret Krohn, and two brothers, LeRoy and Walter.
Memorial services were held at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, Indiana at 7:00 p.m. February 2, 1973. The Rev. B. J. Douglas, pastor of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church of Patoka, Indiana officiated. The Hazelton Masonic Lodge No. 420, presented the Masonic service.
Interment was Sunday, February 4, 1973, in Zion Cemetery, Ogden Township, Ogden, Michigan with the Rev. Waldo Kinsel, pastor of the Adrian Church of the Brethren in charge of the graveside services. The Braun Funeral Home in Adrian, Michigan were in charge of the burial arrangements.
