Henry A. Tough, 79, of Winterset, died Sunday, January 5, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines.

He was the son of David H. and Emma Kistenmacher Tough, born May 14, 1895 at Humphrey, Nebraska. For the past 50 years, he had lived in Madison county where he was a farmer until his retirement. Since that time he had lived in Winterset.

Henry was a member of the Methodist church and a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Earlham, the Shriners of Des Moines and the Winterset American Legion.

He married Maude D. Palmer at Greenfield on February 25, 1947, who survives hime.

Also surviving are two step-children: Wilbur H. Palmer of Des Moines and Mrs. Doris M. Clague of Earlham; and a foster child, Mrs. Lucille Martin of Pueblo, Colorado; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Walter and one sister, Clara Hayes.

Services were conducted at the Collins Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8, with the Rev. Paul Bousfield officiating. Interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
