MORTUARY

Mrs. John Abbott

Fannie Pindell, daughter of Ethen Allen and Beersheba Pindell, was born August 28, 1848, in Brown county, Ohio, and departed this life May 27, 1930 at the home of her brother, James Pindell, in Afton, at the age of eighty-one years, eight months and thirty days.

When she was twenty years of age she came with her parents from Ohio to Madison county, Iowa.

On January 13, 1877, she was united in marriage to John Abbott. Three years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary; but now that earthly tie is broken, only to be united in Heaven. After their marriage they lived on a farm north of Macksburg, but later moved to their home in Macksburg, where they lived for thirty-five years. In January, 1930, when her health became impaired, they went to the home of her brother, in Afton, where she was until her death.

Mrs. Abbott first joined the Methodist church at Pleasant View. Later, when they left the farm, she united with the Macksburg Methodist church, where she was an interested and faithful member.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, her brother and his family, and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Macksburg, Thursday, May 29th, at 2:30 o’clock, with the Rev. Eugene Alexander in charge. Interment was made in the Moon cemetery.

Coordinator note: The correct marriage date is January 18, 1877, as recorded in the Madison County Marriage Register.
