Mabel Alice Conrad, youngest daughter of Elmer and Marietta (Martin) Gordon was born and lived most of her life in Madison county, leaving Earlham to live in Des Moines with her daughter, Mary Alice after the death of her husband.

She was born April 4, 1899 and passed away June 21, 1973.

Mabel was united in marriage to Laurence Allen Brown July 4, 1919 who preceded her in death. To this union was born one child, Lora Ann.

On November 5, 1924 she was married to John Newton Conrad who preceded her in death in 1960. To this union three children were born: Lloyd of Ventor City, New Jersey, Mary Alice and Margaret of Des Moines.

She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Three Link Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Past President Parley, Royal Neighbors.

She transferred her church membership to Grace Methodist church in Des Moines and was an active member in the church and Church Guild. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 89 of Des Moines.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son Lloyd Conrad of New Jersey; daughters, Lora Ann Whitecotten of Jefferson, Mary Alice at home and Mrs. Margaret Gass of Des Moines. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.
