Darlene Prior was born September 5, 1917 in Dallas county, Iowa, and passed away July 1, 1974 at the Dexter Clinic Hospital following a lenghty illness, at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 25 days. She was the daughter of Charles J. Chapman and Nellie Hodson Chapman.

On March 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to John D. Prior in Des Moines. Darlene was a member of the Church of Christ at Elkhart, Iowa. For the last 15 years she and her husband have lived at Rt. 2, Orient, Iowa.

Besides her husband John, she is survived by a son, Harold of Knob Knoster, Missouri; one brother, Harold Justin of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Lyddon of Winterset and Mrs. Velma Paine of Panora.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Last rites were conducted by Rev. Donald Harbour at the Church of Christ in Earlham on July 5, at 11:00 a.m. Casket bearers were Keith Brittain, Marlin Brittain, Thayne Henderson, Marvin Lyddon, Richard Lyddon, Robert Peers, James Peers, William Peers, Dean Priebe and Jerry Priebe. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery. Evans-McKee Funeral Home made the arrangements.
