September 1974Bertha Ann Wheeler Brown, daughter of Robert Hunter Wheeler and Ann Jane Porter, was born in Winfield, Iowa, August 25, 1895 and passed away at the University Hosptial in Iowa City September 24, 1974.
Better known as Sandy, she graduated from Winfield high school in 1913, and from Iowa State University in 1923. She was affiliated with Sigma Kappa social sorority and Omicromn Nu, honorary.
On July 10, 1926 she married James Francis Brown who preceded her in death. Sandy taught home ec. ten years before and after her marriage. She has been a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church.
Surviving her are three children: James Robert Brown, Houston, Texas; Nancy B. Ringstrom of Iowa City, and Jane W. Weideman of Des Moines; three grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Eichenauer of West Liberty and Mrs. Helen Lauer of Mt. Union.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the Earlham Presbyterian Church, with interment at the Earlham cemetery.
