Earlham, IowaClifford Kenneth Smith was born August 3, 1917 in Ida Grove, Iowa, son of Henry and Della Smith. He passed away February 4, 1974 at Methodist hospital, Des Moines, after a three month illness. He was employed with Penn Dixie of West Des Moines for 26 years. He served with the Armed Forces during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post No. 738.
Survivors include his wife Marcella, a step daughter Mrs. Connie Burt of Fenton, three step grandchildren, his son Clifford, Jr. of Davenport, two daughters - Mrs. Audrey Egenberger, Annapolis, Maryland and Mrs. Patricia Gilliland, Des Moines (children from his marriage to Frances L. Smith) and six grandchildren. Brothers Charlie of Halfway, Missouri, Raymond of Boliver, Missouri; sisters, Mrs. Zona Hamilton of El Cajon, California, Mrs. Edith Algreen of Dexter, Mrs. Ruby Greenwood of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Mabel Cronk of Shirland, Illinois.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Della Smith, a foster daughter Jo Ann and a sister, Mrs. Fern Butler.
