FRED HARRY HODSON

Fred Harry Hodson, eldest son of William and Sarah Hodson, was born on a farm east of Earlham, August 9, 1890.

He lived in Madison County, Iowa, during his entire life. He was a farmer at heart, and followed this vocation and the raising of livestock for several years. Twenty-seven years ago he purchased an acreage in the northwest part of Earlham, where he lived until two years ago, when he moved to his present home in Earlham.

When a young man he united with the Earlham Methodist church, taking an active part on the various committees and church Board. Sunday morning would always find him in Sunday School and worship service as long as his health permitted. During his illness he often expressed the desire to go to church.

On November 10, 1910, he was married to Ren Petty, who has patiently cared for him during his long illness. He never once complained about being ill, and was an ideal patient.

At the time of his death, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows, Rebekahs and the Stuart Encampment. He had held office and taken an active part in all of these.

He passed away at his home on May 30, 1963. He leaves his wife, Ren, one brother, Harold, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Carl and Clifford, preceded him in death, Carl in 1956 and Clifford in 1961.
