EDITH ALEXANDER IRVIN

Edith Alexander Irvin was born June 16, 1877, at a Dallas Center farm home, the daughter of John and Matilda Alexander. She passed away at her home in Earlham on April 18, 1963, after a long illness.

She received her education in a rural school south of Dexter, Iowa and on November 27, 1901, married Charles T. Irvin, who preceded her in death on August 14, 1961. They moved in 1903 to a ranch near Kennewick, Washington. Returning in 1914 to Earlham, they made their home here ever since. Mrs. Irvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Earlham and a member of the United Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by her twin sister, Mrs. Mary Duff, who cared for her during her final illness; a brother, Addison Alexander of Des Moines; a son, Charles A. Irvin of West Des Moines; many nieces and nephews, and a great many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Irvin were held Saturday, April 20, at the First Presbyterian church, with Rev. Dean Redshaw in charge of the service.

Casket bearers were L. O. Patten, Ed Tough, Fred Hunter, Mervyn McLennan, Earl Schalkle and H. Claude Peer. Music was provided by Mrs. Fred Fry, organist, and Mrs. Isabella Godby and Mrs. Earl Schalkle, who sang a duet.

Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
