WALTER ALVIN RODERICK

Walter Alvin Roderick was born October 8, 1905 in Madison county near Van Meter, Iowa. He was the son of Perry and Sidney Roderick. His parents moved to Earlham, Iowa where Walter attended the Earlham school.

He was married September 4, 1948 to Nona Mae Rinard Nichols. They have spent 23 of the past 30 years in Adel. Walter spent most of his life as a trucker. He died suddenly on Tuesday, April 18, while at work in the Adel City Park.

Walter is survived by his wife Nona Mae; two sons; James A. Roderick of Adel, and Paul Nichols of Des Moines; a sister, Veneta Reeves of rural Adel; two grandchildren: Troy Nichols and Teresa Nichols of Des Moines; and his mother-in-law, Gladys Kitchell, who lived next door to Walter, and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1958.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, at the Chamberlain-Fisher Funeral Home in Adel, with Rev. Mervin Nelson officiating. Janie Moore was vocalist, accompanied at the organ by David Gerard.

Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronald Grief, Duane Hunzker, Jerry Jenkins, Ron Rinard, Wilbur Rinard, and Kenneth Westerlock.

Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
