Forest Joseph Hibbs, son of Grant and Wildia Williamson Hibbs, was born May 18, 1889 in Mitchellville, and passed away at the Madison County Memorial hospital, December 1, 1977.
He attended high school in Earlham and for a time, attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa.
On March 5, 1915, he was married in San Diego, California to Beulah Powell of Earlham. They made their home in Earlham, where he was assistant postmaster.
In 1916, they moved to a farm near Earlham where they lived for 24 years, then moved to the farm that was his wife's childhood home and lived there 28 years before moving back to Earlham.
Forest was a "birthright" member of the Earlham Friends church.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah, one son, Robert and wife, Helen, of Earlham, one daughter Mary and husband Bill of LaSalle, Colorado, five grandchildren, Judy Tinberg of Woodbridge, Virginia, Bill Cole, Jr. of Greeley, Colorado, Betty Cole, Janet Smith and Tim Cole, all of LaSalle, Colorado, and three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two sons and a grandson.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., December 3, in the Earlham Friends church with Pastor Glenn Moore officiating. Miss Doris Cook provided the music at the organ. Bill Cole, Jr., Tim Cole, Warren Myers, Willard Payton, Donald Ross and Harold Smith were casket bearers.
Interment was in the Earlham cemetery. McKee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
