May 17, 1950LORIMOR WOMAN DIES IN FARM HOME FIRE
Fatal Blaze Was Started by Electric Heating Appliance
Stella Farley, aged 60, was burned to death in her farm home near Lorimor on Wednesday morning of last week.
Dr. C. B. Roe of Afton, Union county coroner, said the fire was started by an over-heated electric blanket or heating pad. He said that the appliance was such a tangle of wires that it was impossible to ascertain just what it had been.
The Lorimor fire department was called to the scene at 6 a.m. to extinguish the flames which also damaged the bedroom in which Miss Farley died.
Miss Farley was a former school teacher, and lived in Winterset for several years prior to the death of her father, Henry Farley. She leaves a sister, Odetta Farley of Des Moines and another sister in California.
