FUNERAL SEPT. 11 FOR MRS. HARTZ

Well-Known Lee Resident Died Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Emmet Hartz, well-known Lee township resident, will be held at 2 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Lutheran church south of Van Meter.

Mrs. Hartz died Monday night at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, where she had been a cancer patient for some time. She was 45 years of age.

Surviving are her husband and four children, ranging in age from three to 17 years. She also leaves a brother, Louis Lentz of Algona, Ia., and a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Jamison of Van Meter.

Officiating at the services this Thursday will be the Rev. Eric Holstein. Burial will be in the Lutheran church cemetery.

FUNERAL THURSDAY FOR MRS. EMMETT HARTZ

Funeral services were held last Thursday from Trinity Lutheran church near Van Meter for Mrs. Emmett Hartz of Lee township whose death had occurred Sept. 8 following an extended illness. Burial was made in the cemetery there.

Mrs. Hartz was 45 years of age at her death. She was the former Marie Lenz, daughter of John and Louise Lenz and was born Jan. 28, 1913 in Jefferson township. She graduated from Van Meter high school with the class of 1931 and attended Iowa State Teacher's college at Cedar Falls. She taught school near Waukee and Dallas Center before her marriage on July 10, 1934 to Emmett Hartz.

She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran church where she taught Sunday school for 16 years and was secretary-treasurer of the Ladies Aid.

She leaves her husband, four children, Melvyn Lee, Sandra Jean, Merlin Gene and Twyla Jo; a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Jamison and a brother, Louis Lenz of Algona.
