Thursday, December 17, 1953Carrie Wilhelmina Beck, daughter of Casper and Katherina Waltmeller, was born Feburary 28, 1876 in Crailsheim, Germany. She passed from earthly life and entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, December 10, 1953. At the age of six she came to America with her parents along with three sisters and two brothers, one sister remaining in Germany. They came on board the ship “Rhine.” They were eleven days crossing the ocean and arrived in the United States on Easter Sunday. After coming directly to Iowa, they settled on a farm in Adair county near Hebron. They continued to make this their home where her mother passed away in 1897 and her father in 1903.
Carrie Beck was married to Ellis E. Lineweaver on March 2, 1904 at Greenfield, Iowa, in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Fred Beck and Miss Aleatha Smith. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lineweaver made their home for a few years in Adair county before moving to Madison county where they have since resided.
Mrs. Lineweaver has been a Christian all her life and an active member of the Worthington Methodist church for 41 years. She remained active as long as her health would permit.
Over a period of years she had suffered three light strokes, and two years ago a heart attack from which she never completely recovered. However, she never was confined to her bed until recent weeks. It is difficult to understand why she suffered so, unless having given us an example of how a Christian could live during good health; it was to show how a Christian can endure suffering.
Mrs. Lineweaver leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, a son Louris, a daughter Pearl, and one grandson, Dale Lineweaver; also two sisters, Mrs. Kate Huffman of Winterset, and Mrs. Pauline Homeyer of Greenfield, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted at Worthington Methodist church December 12, 1953, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. John Latta officiating. Interment was in Worthington cemetery.
