Death of Mrs. L. F. Niendorf

Mrs. Louis Niendorf died at her home in Jefferson township, last Thursday, March 20th, at the age of 74 years. She had only been ill for a short time. Mrs. Niendorf was formerly Miss Wilhelmina Brase, and was born in Germany, February 5, 1856. She came to this county, with her parents, when she was eight years of age, and they located in Clayton county. In October, 1875, she was united in marriage with Louis F. Niendorf, and they moved to Madison county. Mrs. Niendorf had been a resident of this county for the past 55 years.

Ten children were born to this couple: a son, Arthur George, died in infancy; Mrs. Louisa Lenz, in 1918, and Mrs. Anna Zieman in 1925. Mr. Niendorf died in 1901, and his wife continued to live on the home place in Jefferson township with her children.

Mrs. Niendorf was a member of the Lutheran church, and Rev. C. Lillie, the pastor of the church, conducted the funeral services at the Jefferson township church, Sunday, March 23, at 2 o’clock, and burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

The deceased is survived by her seven children: John Niendorf, Mrs. Marie Roberts, Mrs. Henrietta Kneuper, Mrs. August Marquardt, Mrs. Amanda Marquardt, Herman Niendorf and Louis Niendorf. She also leaves 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
