JOHN WIGGINS OF WINTERSET DIES

Death Occurred Here Sunday At Memorial Hospital; Aged 77 Years

John H. Wiggins, a resident of Winterset since 1947, died Sunday, Aug. 9 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Wiggins was born June 4, 1882, near Van Meter and spent his early life on a farm there. He was married to Emma Woolery of Van Meter on June 12, 1906, and they moved to DeSoto where they made their home until coming to Winterset in 1947.

Throughout his adult life he followed the trades of carpenter and brick mason.

He had been a member of the Church of Christ at DeSoto since 1911.

He was the father of two children, a daughter, Erma Bernice, who preceded him in death and a son, Virgil Wiggins of Winterset, who survives. He also leaves his wife; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the DeSoto Methodist church Tuesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Thornton cemetery at Van Meter.
