MRS. BERNICE YATES DIES AT 65 YEARS

Mrs. Bernice Yates of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died last Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Memorial hospital here. She was 65 years of age.

Mrs. Yates was the former Bernice Stuart, daughter of William R. and Irene Rogers Stuart, born in Madison county Aug. 8, 1904. She was married Nov. 26, 1938 to Ray Yates. His death occurred in 1959.

She was employed as a nurses' aid.

Nearest surviving relative is a niece, Mrs. Doris Canty of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Charles Updike pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.

Coordinator's note: Transcribed as published, surname on father's gravestone is "Stewart". Although she appears to have gone by "Bernice" all of her life, she is "Leah B. In the 1905 Iowa State Census.
