March 31, 1896LAURENCE WAGNER
Laurence Wagner died Sunday night after a long prostration from paralysis. He has been sinking rapidly since the death of his child, a couple of weeks ago.
Being an ex-soldier, and a member of the Grand Army, that order takes charge of the funeral services, which were held this afternoon.
Mr. Wagner resided in Winterset something over twenty years, coming here from Indianola. Until afflicted with paralysis he followed the trade of a barber, after that he operated a laundry or kept a restaurant; as long as possible bravely keeping up the struggle of life when many another would have given up in despair.
He was of French birth, coming to this country when young. He leaves a wife and several children.

Lawrence Wagner, an old resident of Winterset, died at his home in the southeast part of the city, on last Sunday night.
Mr. Wagner was for many years a barber in this city until a severe stroke of paralysis about seventeen years ago, made him a cripple for life. Notwithstanding his crippled condition, he afterwards engaged in the restaurant business, at which he continued until a few years ago. Since then he has been almost constantly confined to the house.
He was an old soldier, and the funeral , which occurred Tuesday afternoon, was taken charge of by the Grand Army. He leaves a wife and four children.
