MRS. C. A. PHILLIPS Died Last Week

Mrs. Chester A. Phillips, a resident of the Truro community for 44 years, died at her home there on Wednesday of last week at the age of 71 years.

Mrs. Phillips was the former Comella H. Moore, daughter of Joseph and Martha Moore, and was born at West Liberty on July 12, 1872. She was married to Chester A. Phillips of West Liberty on Nov. 16, 1892. They were the parents of nine children, three of whom preceded the mother in death. They were Mansell Phillips, killed in World War I, Nelson Phillips, killed in an automobile accident, about 20 years ago, and Lawrence, who died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillips came to Madison county 44 years ago, and had lived in Truro the past several years. As a young woman she had united in the Church of Christ at West Liberty, and after coming here transferred her membership to the Methodist church at Truro. She had been a member of Ivy chapter, Order of Eastern Star, since 1926.

She leaves her husband; and the six surviving children. They are: Russell and Leland Phillips of Blairsburg, Mrs. Gretchen Haynes of Des Moines, Paul Phillips of Peru, and Carroll and Dana Phillips of Truro. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Truro Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Winterset. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
