KAREN ALLBEE, Des Moines

Karen Waynette Allbee, 57, died Dec. 31, 2006, following a massive heart attack at her Des Moines home.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 5, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was at Peru Cemetery.

Karen Allbee was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Corydon to Wayne and Ethyle Cummins. She grew up on a farm near Russell, graduating from Russell Community High School in 1967. She also was a graduate of Drake University. She was united in marriage to David Allbee. Karen was a teacher with the Des Moines Public Schools for many years, most recently at Hoyt Middle School. She was an active member of First Federated Church in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by two daughters, Heather Allbee and Heidi Suter; her mother, Ethyle Cummins, and a sister, Sharon Reynolds.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in order to establish a fund to support student leadership training for disadvantaged children.
