Wm. S. Pearson

Wm. S. Pearson, son of Nathan and Louise Kennedy Pearson, was born February 22, 1865, in Jasper county, Iowa. When about 8 years of age the family moved to Dallas county, where a few years later the mother passed away, leaving the family without a mother’s influence and care. Will made his home with relatives and friends until March 14, 1886, when he was united in marriage with Nevada Ann Benson, at the U. B. parsonage at Pleasant Hill. The new home was established 4 miles northeast of Earlham, and almost his whole life had been spent in and near Earlham. Three children were born into the home, Ella Marie, James Lloyd, and Lee Roy, an infant son who died January 21, 1894.

He was converted in a revival held in the Hickory Grove church about 1900. July 9, 1927, his wife was called home and he was left alone. Since that time he had made his home with his children, Marie Slaven in Earlham, and Lloyd Pearson at Stuart.

He had been in failing health for several years and had been confined to his home most of the time in the last few months. Friday evening he suffered a paralytic stroke and died Saturday, August 16th. He leaves to mourn his passing two children, Ella Marie Slaven and James Lloyd Pearson, nine grandchildren, two brothers, Albert Pearson and Charles Pearson, of Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. George Pierce, of Clinton.

Mr. Pearson was a member of the Masonic Order, and the Modern Woodmen of America.

Rev. A. P. Keast, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church, conducted the funeral services Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
