Louisa Knudson was born January 21, 1852, at Salem, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Erich and Serena Knudson. After the mother’s early death, the little girl lived with her grandparents, Wilsons.
In December, 1887, she married Josiah Maxwell, and came to Earlham to make her home. Unto them two children were born, Chas. and Elizabeth, both of whom are living. The husband died in January, 1878, leaving her the responsibility of the home and the two small children.
She died at Oskaloosa, December 6, 1930, and leaves her son and daughter, three grand children, one aged brother, Asa Lewelling, of Oregon, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Friends Church in Earlham, with Rev. S. N. Hester in charge.
