Phil Silverthorn, Earlham

Phil Silverthorn, 73, of Earlham, died of cancer June 11, 1996 at his home. Funeral services were June 14 at the Worthington United Methodist Church in Earlham. Pastor Harold Koughn officiated the services and burial was at the Worthington Cemetery in Madison County.

He was born March 22, 1996 (wrong date) in Winterset to Glen Gerald and Hazel Marie (Parkins) Silverthorn. He married Roberta Jean Orwan on June 2, 1949 at Nashua's Little Brown Church. He was a 1940 graduate of Winterset High School and was a retired mail carrier for the Earlham Post Office. He had been a farmer and a lifetime resident of Madison County. He had served in the United States Army and was a member of the Worthington United Methodist Church in Earlham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.

Surviving relatives include his wife of Earlham; three sons, Jack Silverthorn and wife Nancy of Earlham, Mark Silverthorn and wife Suzanne of Gypsum, Colo., and Larry Silverthorn and wife Laura of Winterset; one daughter, Linda Nicholson of Stuart; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice or the Worthington United Methodist Church.
