W. C. SILVERTHORN DIED ON FRIDAY

Death Occurs at Memorial Hospital at Age of 72 Years

Weaver C. Silverthorn of Winterset died Friday, April 21 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Silverthorn was born at Macksburg on July 15, 1888, a son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Hower Silverthorn. He served as a buyer for the Hubbard Walnut company for many years, but had retired in recent years.

He was a member of the Kasson Methodist church, in which he was a member of the choir, and was affiliated with the Woodman lodge.

Mr. Silverthorn was married at Lorimor on Feb. 16, 1910 to Tressa L. Gorr, who survives him.

He also leaves six children, Mrs. Loraine Dorrell of Winterset, Berniece Silverthorn of Des Moines, Keith Silverthorn of Winterset, Mrs. Ruth Montgomery of Des Moines, Mrs. Freda Sexton of Sioux City and Mrs. Lois Newton of Winterset; a granddaughter, Mrs. Barbara Fish of Winterset, who was reared in his home. He also leaves 16 other grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Dan Silverthorn of Winterset, Neal Silverthorn of Lorimor; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Rogers of Indianola; a half-brother, Elmo Silverthorn of Winterset; and a half sister, Mrs. Walter Reed of Arkansas.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
