Guy Keith Silverthorn, Des Moines

Services for Guy Keith Silverthorn, 65, Des Moines, who died Oct. 12 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, were held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.

Born in Union County on Jan. 15, 1919, he was the son of Weaver and Tressa Gorr Silverthorn. He spent most of his life in Winterset but moved to Des Moines in 1982. In July of 1947, he was married to Lois Juanita Piatt. He had retired from Fawn Engineering in Des Moines in 1980.

Survivors include sons, Richard Keith of Las Vegas and Gary of Colorado; daughters, Mary Grimes and Christi Cristiano, both of Colorado, Vanessa and Becky Silverthorn, both of Missouri, and Misty Silverthorn of Des Moines; sisters, Berniece Silverthorn and Ruth Montgomery, both of Des Moines, Frieda Sexton of Sioux City and Lois Newton of Winterset; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother and a sister.
