Glen Eugene "Butch" Shuey, 56 of St. Charles, died at his residence May 4, 1997. Funeral services were held May 8 at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon. The Rev. James E. Robertson officiated the services and burial was at the Decatur Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 10, 1941 to Harold Lee and Dorothy Mae (Meyers) Shuey in Farrar. He attended Valley Country School and was a graduate of Colfax High School. He married Charlotte Ann Lemonds in Leon on March 11, 1972. He had served in the United States Navy where he was a boiler tender on the U.S.S. Pine Island naval ship in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. Following the service he worked for Lane Well Drilling as a geologic-tester for water in Decatur and Wayne Counties. He also worked for 20 years as a bander at Armstrong Tire in Des Moines. He was a member of the United Tire and Rubber Workers Union Local 164 in Des Moines and was a member of the American Legion in St. Mary's.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one infant grandson.
Surviving relatives include his wife of St. Charles; one daughter, Marty Robertson and husband Curt of Appleton, Wisc.; his mother of Leon; one brother, Larry Shuey and wife Ann of Colfax; two sisters, Delores Norman and husband Mickey of Decatur and Mary Shuey of Branson, Mo.; and three granddaughters.
