W. E. MELROY Death Occured Monday

W. E. Melroy, member of a well known Madison county family, died Monday at the home of his brother, Peter Melroy, in Crawford township. He was 66 years of age.

As a young man he worked on the railroad out of Valley Junction, but retired from this after losing a foot in an accident. He later lived in Des Moines, Omaha, and other cities before returning to Madison county.

On Jan. 1, he retired as assessor of Crawford township after serving six years in that capacity.

Mr. Melroy is survived by two brothers, Peter Melroy of Crawford township and John Melroy of Council Bluffs; and one sister, Mrs. Nora Smith of Churchville.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Catholic church at Churchville, and burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery.
