John Martin Garmon

John Martin Garmon, son of John and Mary Garmon, was born in Cumberland county, Kentucky, October 17, 1841, where he grew to manhood and met and married Jane Janes. To this union were born 3 boys, namely, John Thomas, William Bell, David Buell. With his family he moved to Madison county, Iowa in 1867, where he has lived practically all his life, with the exception of ten years he lived in Garden City, Missouri.

His wife departed this life in 1916. Since that time he made his home with his son, William Bell. Mr. Garmon confessed Christ in his early years and united with the M. E. church. He was a very devoted Christian, loving his work in his church. He was a member at Patterson for a number of years. While he followed his occupation as a farmer, he also had time to be at very useful neighbor, and friend in his neighborhood. He leaves, besides his three sons, fourteen grand children, twenty-nine great grand children, and six great great grand children, besides a host of friends. He passed away at his home, December 10, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 23 days.
