Services Held Saturday for Life-Long Resident Of County
James A. Sheldon, a life-time resident of Madison county, died last Wednesday, April 26, at his home in Winterset. He was 83 years of age.
Mr. Sheldon was born in this county May 9, 1877, a son of Charles and Sarah Davidson Sheldon. His active life was spent in farming, but he had been retired in recent years.
He was married March 27, 1903 near Sioux City to Sarah Brooks. Her death occurred in 1935. A son, James W. Sheldon, also preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Lemon, Mrs. Mildred Bush and Mrs. Violet Ross, all of Winterset; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Alexander of Delta, Colorado.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Arthur Nagel. Burial was made in the Hamblin cemetery.
