Robert Earl Sheets, Winterset

Robert Earl Sheets, 74, of Winterset, died of congestive heart failure Aug. 30, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 4) at Waukee Cemetery.

Robert Sheets was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Oakland and raised in the Earlham and Van Meter areas. He lived his adult life in the Dallas Center area before moving to Winterset five years ago. Robert, who was retired, had been a bulk feed truck driver for the Farmers' Co-op in Dallas Center for 13 years. He later was employed as a part-time custodian for the Dallas Center-Grimes Elementary School in Grimes. A World War II veteran of the United States Navy, he was a member of the Dallas Center United Methodist Church and Dallas Center American Legion Post 49.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Sheets of Winterset; two daughters, Linda and Nancy; a son, Larry Sheets; a stepson, Mike Wright of Winterset; a stepdaughter, Deeanna Prague of Nova Scotia, Canada; three brothers, Harold Sheets and Raymond Sheets, both of Perry, and Ralph Sheets of Peoria, Ariz.; and a grandson.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Robert E. Sheets Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center.
