Vera Sheldon, Truro

Vera Estella Sheldon, 95, of Truro, died June 22, 2004 at Adel Acres.

Funeral services were held Friday June 25, at the Congregational Christian Church-UCC in Truro with Pastor Carol Iammatteo-Code officiating. Burial was at Hartman Cemetery, Ohio Township, Madison County.

Vera Sheldon was born Aug. 6, 1908 in Clarke County to Charles L. and Bessie M. (Fitzgerald) Neff. She was a 1926 graduate of East High School. On March 17, 1929, she married True W. Sheldon in St. Charles. They resided in Lorimor before moving to a farm in rural Truro in 1935. In 1970 they moved to Truro. A homemaker, Vera was a member of the Congregational Christian Church-UCC in Truro and the Thursday Girls quilting goup. She also had participated with the Kitchen Band from Truro.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Kenneth T. Sheldon; one grandson, Randy Sheldon; and a step-sister, Maxine Fitzgerald.

She is survived by two sons, Merrill Sheldon of Conway, Ark., and Dale Sheldon of Crawford, Neb.; one daughter, Virla Caskey of Redfield; and 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Congregagional Christian Church-UCC in Truro.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
