A funeral service was held Tuesday, June 15, at Collins Funeral Home for Rick Dean Shaw of rural Winterset, who died June 11 in an automobile accident in Elk City, Oklahoma. He was 27 years old.
Born in Winterset on April 4, 1955, he was the son of Robert (Cecil) and Norma Kile Shaw. He was raised on a farm in Webster township and was active in 4-H and Little League. He was a 1973 graduate of Winterset High School.
A self-employed carpenter, he was a lifetime resident of this area until August of last year, when he moved to Elk City.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kile and his paternal grandfather, Glenn Shaw. Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Steven and Randal, both of Elk City and Gary of Winterset; and his grandmother, Mrs. Glenn Shaw of Winterset.
Rev. Charles Updike officiated at the funeral service and burial was in Winterset Cemetery.
