Edith Shaw, Winterset

Edith M. Shaw, 95, of Winterset, died June 25, 2004, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Tom Conrey officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1 at the funeral home where the family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Edith Shaw was born March 24, 1909 in Madison County to Lester C. and Elinor B. (Breeding) Holmes. On March 9, 1931, she married Paul D. Shaw in Winterset. A homemaker, Edith assisted her husband with the operation of their family farm. She also worked for the J. C. Penney Company and Graham's in Winterset and had been a telephone operator. She was a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women, Farm Bureau, and Golden Rule Club. She also had been a 4-H leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Carl Holmes; and a sister, Hazel Schoonover.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Ann Thompson of Perry; two sisters, Mary Fife of Des Moines and Mildred Bek of Winterset; and two grandchildren.
