Death of WALLACE THOMPSON

Wallace Thompson, a promising young man and son of Dr. W. H. Thompson, died Tuesday morning at his home in the southwest part of town, of diabetes, aged 23 years.

Four years ago he went to New York, where he accepted a position as deputy grain inspector, in the New York produce exchange. He met with much success in his work and his future promised much for him. Last August he came home for a vacation and was taken seriously sick at that time and gradually grew worse until his death.

Funeral services will be held at the home today, conducted by Rev. J. H. White, of the United Presbyterian church, after which his body will be taken to Monroe, Iowa, and laid to rest by the side of his mother.

Death of Wallace Thompson

William Wallace Thompson, one of the promising young men of Winterset, died at the home of his father, Dr. W. H. Thompson, yesterday morning at about seven o’clock after an illness from diabetes extending over a period of several months. Wallace was a young man of more than ordinary rightness and business ability. A few years ago while yet in his teens he filled a responsible position in the train inspection service in New York City and was steadily advanced and several times promoted, and at the time he had to leave and come home on account of his failing health he was well towards the top of the service which he was engaged. He was twenty three years old past and had most of life before him, and with the highest hopes when disease cut him down. The father, step mother, a sister and a half brother greatly mourn this untimely taking off, and the community deeply sympathizes with them in their bereavement and great loss.

Services were held at the house this afternoon at 3 o’clock and the funeral party with the remains will take the train this evening for Monroe, the former home, where the regular services will be held in the church Friday and interment will be made at that place beside the mother of the deceased.
