CLYDE SHAFFER DIED SUNDAY

Native of Douglas Township Was Life-Long Resident Of Community

Clyde C. Shaffer, a life-time resident of Douglas township died Sunday, Aug. 27, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Shaffer was born in Douglas township on March 19, 1882, a son of Andrew J. and Margaret Cowden Shaffer. Most of his active life was spent in farming. In recent years he had worked with the P.M.A. grain bin crew.

He was married at Ottawa, Kan., in 1936, to Catherine Chamberlain who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Frank O. Allen of Winterset and Mrs. Henry Kenoyer of Earlham; two step-daughters, Mrs. Cecil Clark of Winterset and Mrs. Andrew Nelson of Lorimor; 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Lewis E. Lint, pastor of the Worthington Methodist church.

Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Here Tuesday to Attend Shaffer Services

Among those who were here from out of the county Tuesday to attend funeral services for Clyde Shaffer were Mr. and Mrs. William Turnbull of Council Groves, Kansas. Glen Henderson of Parson, Kansas, Robert Henderson of Colony, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Miller of Clearfield, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bochart of Greenfield, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herrick of Avoca, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hartman of Redfield, Mr. and Mrs. John Starr and Clara Garland of Stuart.

Also Mr. and Mrs. Worth Deets, Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Naylor, Mrs. Claude Drake and son, Mrs. Clyde Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Les Burch and Mrs. Loyd Dale all of Des Moines.
