Douglas Township Farmer Lived in This County Since 1928
Walter A. Seybold, well-known Douglas township resident, died last Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 86 years of age.
Mr. Seybold had been a resident of Madison county for 39 years. He was born at Guion, Ind., on Nov. 17, 1880, a son of Jasper W. and Savilla Brooks Seybold. He came to Adams county in Iowa, then to Madison county in 1928.
Mr. Seybold's life was spent in farming. He was a former member of the Iowa National Guard, attaining the rank of first lieutenant. He was active in the Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the West Star Methodist church.
Mr. Seybold was married in Adams county on Feb. 28, 1906 to Minnie L. Smith. Her death occurred in 1959.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Murphy of Winterset and Mrs. LeRoy Brown of Corning. He also leaves six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
